                  As per letter No. 4154 / CHSE Dt-01.05.2006 of CHSE, Odisha , the course structure of +2 stream has been changed with effect from the academic session, 2006-

07. The details of the changes are given below for information of all concerned.

According to the new course structure there shall be one examination to be conducted by the Jr. College / Higher Secondary School at the end of 1st year basing on the curriculum meant for that year and one examination at the end of 2nd Year to be conducted by the Council basing on the curriculum meant for that year alone. Pass certificates will be awarded to successful candidates basing on the performance in the council examination to be held at the end of the 2nd year only.

The examination at the end of 1st year shall be for 700 marks (including 100 marks for Environmental Education) and the examination at the end of 2nd year shall be for 600 marks . Marks secured in the examination to be conducted at the end of the 1st year shall be considered for promotion of students to the 2nd year class.

           Besides English and M.I.L, Environmental Education (EE) Yoga and Computer Sc. shall also be a compulsory subject. But Environmental Education will be taught only in the 1st year and examination for Environmental Education will be conducted by the college at the end of the 1st year.

i.                Yoga

Yoga will be taught as compulsory subject & assessed at the College level (100 marks), 50 marks for theory & 50 marks for practical). The theory examination shall be conducted at the end of +2 1st year classes and practical examination shall be conducted at the time of text examination in the +2 2nd year. Grades as mentioned in E.E are to be awarded in the college in order of merit and the same shall be reflected in the body of the pass certificate issued by the Council. However the grades of the Yoga will not affect the result of the Candidate.

ii.               Environmental Education (EE).

Notes :- The above subject will be assessed at the college level for 100 marks (70 marks for theory and 30 marks for project work ) at the end of 1st year of +2 course and the grades (A,B,C or D in order of merit) are to be awarded by the college and the same shall be recorded in the body of the pass certificate given by the Council subsequently . The grade secured in the Environmental Education (EE) will not affect the result of the candidate below.

Restriction on selection of optional (henceforth called as elective) subjects will be the main feature in the new course structure. There shall be no extra optional subject. Instead each student has to offer four elective subjects as detailed below :

RESTRICTIONS:

a)  Sociology cannot be opted with Statistics.

2.      +2 SCIENCE - 128 SEATS.

b)  Elective subjects :-

(1) Physics , (2) Chemistry, (3) Math/Biology,

(4) Statistics as 4th Elective Subjects

1. DURATION OF COURSE:-

The syllabus for 2 years course of each subject shall be divided into two parts , namely 1st year and 2nd year carrying 100 marks each. The college will conduct one examination at the end of the 1st year class of +2 course and the Council will conduct the examination at the end of the 2nd year class of +2 course. The result of a candidate will be determined only on the performance of the candidate in the Council examination to be held at the end of the 2nd year course.

(2)      The Pass Criteria :- The pass criteria for the Examination shall be as follows :-

(i)                                Subjects with Practical: 30% of the total marks shall be diverted for practical examinations and the remaining 70% thereof , for theory. A candidate has to pass separately in theory and practical .Pass marks in Biology shall be calculated taking together the marks secured in both Botany and Zoology (adding the marks of Botany and Zoology).

(ii)                              Pass marks shall be 30% of the total marks in theory paper & 40% of the total marks in practical paper, in each subject with 35% of the total marks in the aggregate.

Provided further that a candidate may be permitted to take up for the Higher Secondary Examination one of the subject as M.I.L under (ii) above without attendance at Lecture in the subject if the institution in which he is admitted is not affiliated in that subject.

3.         +2 VOCATIONAL - 48 SEATS.

b)       Trade: Dairying - 24 seats. CPM - 24 seats

    A candidate in Arts (Hons) shall offer a Hons. Subject carrying 800 marks and two elective subjects besides compulsory subjects. Each elective subject shall consist of two papers, each carrying 100 marks. Hons. students shall be taught two papers of elective A in their 1st year. and two papers of elective B in their 3rd year. (Final year), as shown in the above table.

N.B. : Students admitted to Hons. Subject shall be taught one paper (P-l) of Major Elective in their 2nd Year. And another paper (P-2) in their 3rd year. (i.e.Final year)

N.B.: Students securing below 40% marks in aggregate (without Fourth Optional) and below 40% marks in concerned subjects need not apply for honours subject. Honours subject will be selected after normal admission from among the pass subjects admitted. Students seeking honours subjects will apply in separate form after normal admission.

N.B. : If a seat in any particular combination is not available, other combinations may

be given at the time of admission. The Principal has the right to abolish combination,or subject as the case may be, if the student strength is less than five in that combination / subject.

A student shall choose any one subject as Major Elective from among the following subjects.

Life Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics. Provided that a student having any of these subjects as pass or Hons. Shall not be allowed to offer the same subject as a Major Elective one.

For example :- If a student takes Physics and Chemistry as his/her pass subjects in 1st year & 2nd year, then he / she will not be allowed to take Physics or Chemistry as his / her Major Elective subject in 3rd year. He/she may take either Life Science, Mathematics, Statistics as his/her Major Elective one.

In the Honours Teaching departments of the college separate seminars have been formed by the respective honours students. In each Department Seminar in different topics of the subject will be read by the students and the departmental teacher shall guide the students. No seminar can be organised without the approval of the principal and Head of the Department.
